Entry deadline for film submissions is expired!

More then 800 submissions arrived in the festival office until entry deadline 1st June. Filmmakers from more then 50 countries want to present their productions in Eberswalde. The program commissions are going to preview the material and develop the festival program.

Short film - up to 20 min and without restriction on subject
Animation - up to 20 min and without restriction on subject
Documentary - without restriction on length, with relevance to the theme of: Films about the province

The theme for the documentary competition
City life is free, province is tight – the labels are big enough to cover our whole reality. Although a lot has changed in the last years between the centre and the edge. Filmfest Eberswalde wants to remove the old labels and take a closer look behind. The Provinziale is calling upon documentary filmmakers all over the world, to tell storys about life beyond the well known places: about the cruelty of survival, the freedom of self-organization, about innovation and courage, about perplexity in demographical change, about yearning for the wide world and last but not least about homeland, that is always a little bit provincial. The province is providing many spaces, that can be used differently. This spaces shall be explored.
The thematic reference is a precondition to participate on the documentary competition.

Short feature films and animation films are not required to have an thematic reference. They shall not be produced befor 2008.
