City life is free, province is tight – the labels are big enough to cover our whole reality. Although a lot has changed in the last years between the centre and the edge. Filmfest Eberswalde wants to remove the old labels and take a closer look behind. The Provinziale is calling upon documentary filmmakers all over the world, to tell storys about life beyond the well known places.
To take part in this competition the film has to refer to the topic Province.

Parts of Filmfest Eberswalde are the International Competitions and the additional programs. Every sender can submit films for every program.
For the International Competition for short films and animation films can be submitted without any restrictions on subject. For the international competition "Provinziale" documentaries of every length can be submitted. For the additional Programs films of every genre can be submitted. It depends not to the year of production. Every sender can submit unlimited number of films. There is no entry fee. A commission is selecting the films for the several programs. The organizer will inform the sender about the selection of his film. A jury will nominate the awards, except the audience award. They will be awarded during the closing ceremony of the festival. The awards are:
The sender makes the organizer of Filmfest Eberswalde a screening copy of his production available for free in one of the following formats: 35mm, Digibeta, BetaSP, DVCam, DV/MiniDV or DVD.

All video have to be PAL-Standard. All rights of the production are owned by the director or producer. The sender is paying all forwarding costs for viewing copy and screening copy. Foreign sending will be accepted only with correct declaration. The viewing copy must be DVD PAL Standard. All viewing copies will stay in the archive of Filmfest Eberswalde. Screening copies of selected contributions, if they are different from viewing copy, will be send back on cost of the organizer. Sent films are not insured. For damages by the organizer he will only pay the value of damaged material. With the registration every sender permites the organizer to use parts of his production (max. 59 seconds) for promotion. If the Film wins one of the festival awards the producer or filmmaker is enabling Filmfest Eberswalde to release the film on a festival roll (not for commercial use). Best films of the festival program will be screened on a film tour after the festival.
Directors and producers of selected contributions receive a festival passport after sending a photograph. This passport allows free entry to all events of the filmfestival. The organizer can not pay any travelling costs, but he can get low-priced rooms. Ask for special conditions for foreign participants.
