New “e”

Das neue "e"In the darkness of the cinema the digitized light conjures up the illusion of real life. Like light itself the scenes set by the filmmaker penetrate our consciousness leaving impressions, some deep and lasting, some that vanish as soon as the lights go up in the theatre. These aspects are reflected in the design of the ‘e’, which illustrates digital media itself as well the power of the moving image.

This years ‘e’ prize underscores the role of sustainability in the world of film. Whether seen by an audience or when it takes it’s place on the film makers shelf, the ‘e’ should remind film lovers and film makers alike that film making is about technology and resources and that it is up to us all how we creatively and sustainably use them.

Designed by Richard Hurding of Zelfo Technology, the ‘e’ is produced using the Zelfo process, which forms natural cellulose fibres into a finished material without using any synthetic binders. Zelfo like any successful creative work, combines maximum effect using optimised resources.
